I Moved!

As soon as April disappeared into May, I moved one mile north from Southeast DC to Northeast. I am, gratefully, settling into this beautiful new space, that streams in so much natural light through massive windows. Lovely, lovely. :)

Among the wave of changes brought on by the coronavirus is a renewed vigor I feel to connect to my city. DC has been my home for almost two years, which is crazy, because I haven’t sat still anywhere this my junior-to-senior two-year lease in college.

But here, where I’m curled up on the shag rug hearing birds chirp as though our front trees reek with pheromones - have they always chirped so much? - I’m at rest in a way I haven’t been in a home in a long time.

Nothing about this atmosphere leaves you feeling hurried or unsettled.

The year has, for all of us, plummeted in a direction that none of us saw coming. 2019 was a tremendous travel year for me, with a busy blog page to take each of you through each new excursion: several domestic trips (both known, and new; including my first time in the American Southwest), two international trips, a first time seeing Eastern Europe in the grand old city of Budapest, two francophone countries where I could practice my French (oui oui, eh?).

While I my hopes remain high for new opportunities abroad, and the year is far from over, for now I’ll have to (for the most part) stay put. That’s why I’ll continue sharing what content I’ve found and created with all of you to keep morale high. How gracious of the Lord, how sweet a gift, to grant uninterrupted time with those I love (as I try to shrink my “bubble” for the foreseeable future), of books that I can’t wait to talk about, of film and podcasts and projects and ways to connect with and care for my people and all other things I’ve learned.

Until next time, friends and loved ones -
